Davinci Gives Back: January Charity – Covid19 Mutual Aid, SLC
'The Salt Lake Valley COVID-19 Mutual Aid Network facilitates connections between individuals in need of support due to the COVID-19 pandemic and individuals offering support. Our network of volunteers provides assistance to community members in need by facilitating transport and provision of basic needs including groceries, prescriptions, and medical supplies. We operate alongside a global community of mutual aid organizations, and in solidarity with other community-run organizations in the Salt Lake Valley. Together, globally and locally, we build reciprocal support for one another.
Historically, marginalized communities have formed networks of reciprocal aid to provide for needs that have been ignored or exacerbated by governmental or social service institutions. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many vulnerable members of our community have lost jobs or benefits, been forced into quarantine, or lost family members, creating barriers to basic necessities and compounding economic difficulties. We prioritize the needs of those who are most physically and economically vulnerable: people who are chronically ill and/or immunocompromised, undocumented, disabled, elderly, houseless, BIPOC, queer and trans people, and sex workers.
We are providing aid in three forms:
-One-time grocery, prescription and household supply deliveries, up to $100
-One-time direct cash assistance, up to $100
-One-time $50 direct cash assistance and $50 of groceries delivered'
For the month of January, Davinci made a financial contribution, as well as encouraged members of our team to donate supplies needed for their efforts. We are proud to once again be supporting a local organization dedicated to serving our community in these dire times.
